We invite you to a special performance where you can experience the traditional music of both Korea and Egypt on one stage. Korea-Arab Society (KAS) and the Asia Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju will co-host the 18th Arab Cultural Festival as below which is sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
Taking place on Saturday, 6 September at Theater 3 of the Archive & Research Building at the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, the festival will kick off with a culture talk featuring Egyptian broadcaster Mr. Samy Rashad and Professor Emeritus Hwang Byung-ha of Chosun University`s College of Global Humanities, followed by a special performance by the Egyptian and Korean traditional performance troupes.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Korea this year, we invited the Egyptian National Port Said Folk Arts Troupe all the way from Egypt and Korean traditional performance troupe called the Yonhee Noree Institute to present a beautiful feast of music and dance. Join us for a vibrant celebration of culture, bringing Korean and Arab cultures closer together.
Please be noted that the talk concert will be in Korean language to introduce history about Korean-Arab exchange and other cultural stories.
Admission is free and after the performance, there will be a time to take a photo with the performance troupe. Don’t miss out the chance to capture precious memories in photos. Also audience will receive souvenirs including dates, famous Arab dessert and other small gifts. We hope many people will come and enjoy this festival! Established in 1999 to promote the performance and education of traditional culture of Korea, including "Gangnyeong Mask Dance," National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 23, the Yonhee Noree Institute has been connecting with people of all ages and genders through performances of traditional plays.
